These are among my all-time favourite Christmas movies. The ‘spirit’ of Christmas is often ‘compromised’ because of the ‘business’ and busyness of the season. This year, Christmas 2020, the self-isolating we do to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19 also provides us an opportunity to go back in time; to visit with ourselves, in Christmases past; to see ourselves and the spirit of the season (aka the Spirit of the Christ) à la Ebenezer Scrooge.

It’s part of the Golden Rule, and that is the basic operative of every faith.
And it is very much the Christmas spirit.
